Leading People, Loving People
Leadership has become one of the most meaningful parts of my life, not simply through the positions I have held, but through the people I have had the opportunity to invest in along the way. Each experience has taught me something new about how I lead, how I support others, and the kind of leader I hope to continue becoming.
Global Health Student Network
As the Social Chair for the Global Health Student Network at Baylor University during the 2025–2026 academic year, I focused on fostering strong member engagement and building a welcoming community for both new and current members. I led efforts to recruit new members and planned social events that were fun, inclusive, and strengthened relationships within GHSN. One of my favorite parts of the role was getting to use my creative side, including designing our organization’s shirts for the year and bringing new ideas to life through our events. I also collaborated closely with the officer team to support service events, coordinate guest speakers, and contribute to overall organizational planning, all while helping create a connected and supportive environment for students interested in global health.
Highland Baptist Wellness Center
As a volunteer at the HBC Wellness Center, I served at the patient intake desk, where I had the opportunity to interact directly with patients and help create a welcoming experience from the moment they arrived. I often took the lead during regular programming, helping coordinate the team and contributing ideas to strengthen community outreach and engagement. This experience allowed me to put my public health background into practice while learning how meaningful relationships and thoughtful communication can make a difference in the way people experience healthcare.
Camp Cyokamo
As a camp counselor at Cyokamo, the summer church camp I grew up attending, I led twice-daily group discussions and readings for more than 10 middle school girls throughout a five-day camp experience, creating space for them to ask questions, share openly, and grow in their faith. I also personally mentored three 12-year-old girls, building individual relationships and walking alongside them through conversations about their faith that ultimately led each of them to publicly declare their faith. Beyond my group, I worked my best friend as my co-leader to support safety, engagement, and daily programming, giving me an early opportunity to see how intentional leadership and personal investment can make a lasting impact.
